The association has published its sustainability credentials for 2022, showing BEV uptake and Clean Air Zone compliance across different fleet segments. The credentials are continually improving and show how the fleet sector is leading the way in the electrification of the total UK car parc.

The BVRLA Fleet Sustainability Credentials show that the rental and leasing sectors are already leading the transition to cleaner transport. 100% of rented, leased and car club cars are Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) compliant and 99% of rented vans (96% of leased vans) are as well.

The BVRLA Fleet Sustainability Credentials show that the rental and leasing sectors are already leading the transition to cleaner transport, with 100% of the car rental fleet and 96% of leased cars being Clean Air Zone (CAZ) compliant. These compliance figures are well ahead of the average for all UK cars, where only 62% meet CAZ emission requirements.

Whilst welcoming government’s commitment to having a zero-emission car fleet across central government by 2030, the BVRLA has highlighted the need for the Civil Service to reduce its reliance on grey fleet if it is serious about leading by example.

The British Vehicle Leasing and Rental Association (BVRLA) is calling on the government to tackle the challenges of the UK’s 'grey fleet', following the publication of a new report that showed the true cost of employees using their own cars for work purposes.

The BVRLA commissioned the Energy Saving Trust to undertake research into the scale of grey fleet use in the UK.

Grey fleet is the name given to private vehicles which are used for business travel.
