BVRLA consultation response to Ofgem's proposals on access and forward looking charges
Ofgem consulted on a Significant Code Review on access and forward-looking charges. It proposed to support the uptake of electric vehicles though improved definition and choice of access rights and by reducing part of the distribution network connection charges.
In its response, the BVRLA welcomed Ofgem’s proposals to improve the existing process and to potentially remove reinforcement costs but raised concern about whether this will go far enough to remove the core costs holding members back.
Given the constraints and delay before its introduction, the BVRLA is calling on the Government to provide additional support for those looking to invest now in the infrastructure that will enable their uptake of electric vehicles.
