Last week’s BVRLA Parliamentary Reception was attended by over 200 guests, who came together as the association launched its Road to Zero Report Card in the House of Commons.
One hundred BVRLA members and staff were joined by two government ministers, three shadow ministers, the chair of the BEIS Select Committee, 18 Select Committee members, three shadow spokespeople and three Peers, as well as other guests and officials.
Andrew Stephenson MP, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, who addressed guests at the event said:
“We have made a strong start in implementing the Government’s Road to Zero Strategy, but the Government cannot deliver a zero-emission future for the UK alone. The vehicle rental, leasing and fleet industry is a vital partner in mobilising the sort of behaviour change needed to deliver a cleaner, greener road transport system, and I look forward to working with the BVRLA to help achieve our ambitions."
BVRLA Chief Executive Gerry Keaney said:
“The 2019 event is the biggest Parliamentary event that we have ever held. It’s been a fantastic event for members and great to see so many representatives from government supporting our recommendations; Peers, ministers, officials and MPs from across the political spectrum. We are grateful to Richard Burden MP, Chair of the all-party Parliamentary Motor Group, who hosted the event on our behalf.”
