Today (1 April) is the day Government is removing EVs’ exemption from vehicle excise duty (VED) and new EVs worth more than £40,000 will also incur the expensive car supplement. The potential impact of these extra costs and other factors influencing consumer demand will be addressed at the BVRLA’s EV-focused Fleets in Charge Conference.
The event will dig deep into the issues that leasing and rental member firms encounter as they tackle the challenges to a successful transition.
Not only talking about creating customer demand and the used BEV market, expert panels and speakers at the ‘Changing Demand or Demanding Change?’ themed event, will delve into a wealth of subjects critical to the transition.
A panel will look at engaging hard-to-reach users, those who are often not the focus of advertising or communications or who face unique challenges in making the jump to EVs work.
Another will look at the skills needed for the shift to EVs, especially in the aftermarket sector. Discussing how skill shortages can impact both the new and used car markets, and what steps are being taken to address it, while promoting greater diversity in the workforce.
The agenda will also feature the latest on the ZEV Mandate, charging costs, Chinese entrants, repair and maintenance costs, EV insurance, the role of AI in the sector and E-van capabilities.
The Conference is taking place on Wednesday 2 July at the QEII Centre in London.
