The British Parking Association (BPA) and the International Parking Community (IPC) have published a private parking sector single Code of Practice to be used across the entire sector.
This new single Code will raise standards and deliver greater transparency and consistency for the benefit of motorists. The new Code comes into force from 1 October with an implementation period until December 2026.
Crucially, the BVRLA has successfully made sure that the Code includes the requirement for private parking companies to have a process for transferring liability for Parking Charge Notices for rental and leasing companies. The BVRLA will now be working with both organisations to shape that process.
See the full Code of Practice on the BPA website.
The BVRLA provides an instructor-led online course ‘Penalty Charge Notice Masterclass’, designed to teach and support members in dealing with road traffic offences/penalty charge notices, appealing against decisions by enforcement authorities, making statutory declarations and helping members support their staff on the subject.
