Caroline Pidgeon, Liberal Democrat Member of the London Assembly, has written to London Mayor Sadiq Khan endorsing the BVRLA’s mobility credits scrappage scheme, which offers a mobility credit in exchange for a household scrapping its older, more polluting vehicle.
In a letter sent to the Mayor she drew attention to the work of the BVRLA:
“I would highlight the work already undertaken on this issue by the British Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association, and also the Centre for London. The adoption of the car scrappage scheme could play a key role in supporting a modal shift and bring huge environmental and other benefits, such as less crowded residential roads with parked cars. Changes are already occurring in the ownership and hiring of vehicles and mobility credits could help to accelerate them changes.”
BVRLA Government Affairs Manager, Paul Thompson, recently met with Caroline to make her aware of the association’s work.
